Steve is a proven serial entrepreneur, over the last 25 years giving birth to a number of ventures large and small in the business and community sectors being recognised at both Government and Prime Ministerial levels. Steve has also served as leader of a large church as well as planting churches and ministries into the marketplace as part of his calling.
His passion for social change gave birth to a charity and social enterprise which grew significantly across a number of projects before he created the Genesis Centre which became a national case study and exemplar in the development of sustainable community delivery and small town development.
Steve has served on a number of government agencies and economic partnerships and also served as an advisor with East Midlands Development Agency helping shape the emergence of social sector. His role in new business development within Social Enterprise East Midlands led to the creation of a large health company delivering Dentistry which has since been used as a model for large scale social business delivery.
The above has given rise to 15 years of consultancy to numerous charities, social enterprises and churches both across the UK and internationally, helping shape vision, developing strategy and assisting community and capital development projects and marketplace impact.
Married for 35 years, Steve is father to three boys, keen sports follower and passionate for God and His Kingdom.
Steve became a Christian in 1993 after a transformational encounter with the Holy Spirit. After working on projects for the homeless and those dealing with substance misuse, together with undertaking hands on roles working within the community sector, Steve spent three years on the senior ministry team of his local church before entering into the world of social funding. He played a leading role in the administration of an Objective 2 European funding programme, giving rise to many community regeneration projects and investing over £10 million into local communities.
After considerable success in bid writing; winning £3.5 million for regeneration programmes, Steve joined Genesis in 2005. He was successful in generating a further £0.5 million for the development of the project from funders such as Coalfields Regeneration Trust and Wren Recycling. During this time he has served as a Director of a number of agencies and charities including Hope Enterprises in Nottingham.
Steve’s expertise in community project development, bid writing and business planning is complemented by his own entrepreneurial talent in being the part owner of a retail business located in Hull.
Colin is a consultant and entrepreneur in his own right. He has an impressive track record in social enterprise, business and community development and has been associated with Genesis since 2007. After a number of years delivering business support to small and medium sized enterprises and charities in South Yorkshire, Colin joined the staff team of Hope City Church in Sheffield, his home church since 1991. He led the development of the Sheffield Megacentre – the business and community expression of the church, which grew quickly from the turn of the century to incorporate a successful conferencing business, community day care nursery, adult and community education programmes amongst other social action projects during his tenure.
Colin’s passion for kingdom business and community enterprise is demonstrated by the development of his own consulting, digital marketing and payroll businesses and by his early stage involvement as Chief Executive of Centre at Threeways, an ambitious community project spearheaded by a local church in one of the most disadvantaged parts of the country. Since 2012 he has been successful in winning over £350,000 grant funding for the project and securing a 125 year peppercorn lease of a 108,000 ft2 facility from the local authority, the largest community asset transfer in England to date.
He holds a number of Directorships including being a Director of Hope City Church. He is a skilled consultant, business and people developer.
